Chewelah Evangelical Free Church is looking for a solo pastor. We are a demographically diverse, conservative, and growing small town-rural church body averaging 110 people in Sunday worship. We are a mix of young families with retirees (a few who migrate south during winter months) and some middle aged. There are also several home-school families supportive of one another.
Our doctrinal statement can be found on this website in the All About CEFC pulldown menu (Statement of Faith). We also hold to believer’s water baptism, Holy Spirit baptism at conversion, sovereignty of God balanced with free will, creation by direct act of God, premillennialism, congregational governance with elder leadership, a complementarian view of women, and marriage being exclusively between a man and a woman.
Chewelah Evangelical Free Church began as a church plant in 2001, meeting in the local Senior Center. Since that time, CEFC has enjoyed the ministry of two full-time pastorates, with interim pastorates in-between. In 2010, CEFC completed a church building on five acres of land with mostly volunteer labor and no debt. A larger sanctuary was added in 2018, also with volunteers and no debt.
Our worship services are a blend of traditional hymns and meditative choruses, with a strong expository message from the Bible. Children’s programs include children’s church, AWANA for kindergarten through sixth grade, and a well-regarded VBS each June. This year, we launched a youth group for grades 7-12. There are several small groups that meet during the week for adults that include home Bible study/prayer meetings, men’s breakfasts and women’s bible studies. Missions and community outreach support overseas missionaries and local involvement in low-income housing, food banks, a crisis pregnancy center, a retirement home. We have congregational governance that elects elders, deacons, leaders of ministry areas, and approves the annual budget.
Key felt needs for the future are: leadership development, expanding family ministries, and greater community involvement. For more information on our ministries, events, etc., click on the additional tabs/pulldown menus on this website; as well as the blog-style posts and archives in the sidebar.
